Homemade finger paints

So last week I came across this picture -

Today I tried it! I took a lot of photos to show you how it turned out.

Looks like milk at the beginning!

I have my jars all ready.

Starting to thicken. Looks kinda gross....

Weird!

Hm sort of resembles vasoline.

Scooped into my jars.

Food coloring added! Pretty!

I had to try them out of coarse. :)

My son Oliver trying them out.

His masterpiece! Oliv Er

My daughter Emme trying them out.

Love her tongue sticking out in concentration.

They loved them! I had fun making them too, and watching them finger paint.

DJ the Dino, as named by Oliver

So, one day my son (7) comes up to me and asks me if I am done making a crocheted bag I was working on. I told him almost, why? He then proceeded to say, well I want a long neck Dino and I want half of it to be orange and half to be green. I say uh, ok, well I will have to see what I can find.

I finish the bag (which was really cute btw) and started working on some other orders. Oliver (my son) comes up to me and says mom, you were supposed to make my dinosaur.

I told him I didn't forget, but I actually did....LOL

So I went searching for a long neck dinosaur crochet pattern. I checked Etsy, Ravelry, and just plain ol Google. I found this one - Apatosaurus Dinosaur on Ravelry.
Here is her picture. Isn't he cute???

We went yarn shopping together and Oliver picked out a light green for the bulky yarn, and a orange for the worsted weight. This Dino is crocheted using two strands of yarn at the same time (one super bulky, and one medium).

Slowly over the next couple of days I worked on DJ. Oliver had already named him before I even started making him. :)
Here is my finished DJ -

The pattern was fun and easy to do. I am now working on a purple and white one for my daughter. I hope to have her finished soon!

Yummy soups!

On Thursday I had my wisdom teeth removed, which means I haven't been able to eat much. My husband has been taking great care of me and the kids. I feel very lucky to have him around! I wanted to share with you a couple of yummy soups we made the last couple of days. We got both recipes from the Pioneer Woman. I love her blog and all her recipes are so easy and yummy!

On Friday we made the Broccoli-Cheese Soup. It was extremely good and very easy to make. Both of my kids loved it, and it felt great that they were eating such a healthy meal! You could also add some ham to this soup for a little extra umph. We didn't do that this time since I couldn't chew very well. :)

Today my husband picked out the Homemade Chicken and Noodles. He went shopping and made this soup all my himself! It turned out so yummy, I even had two bowls! Both of my kids loved this as well.

If it wasn't for these awesomely easy and yummy soups I would be stuck eating applesauce, yogurt, pudding, and store bought chicken noodle.... I am very grateful. :)
